Developed in collaboration with Centre for African and Development Studies (CEsA) as part of the Democracy in Action project, this digital map highlights grassroots organisations working with African and Afro-descendant communities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Bringing together more than fifty associations, collectives, and community initiatives, the platform showcases how culture can foster civic participation, visibility, and community building.
Created through a collaborative research and mapping process, the map offers an overview of organisations, their activities, and geographic locations. Alongside physical initiatives, it also includes digital platforms and networks, creating a dynamic resource for exploration, exchange, and connection across communities.
