EuropaNacht is an evening and night programme in Paradiso where politics, culture and club come together. Featuring talks, performances, a full club night and a VR nightclub by Democracy in Action, it explores Europe’s promises through both reflection and experience.
On May 9th, De Kiesmannen and YUSU return to Paradiso as a part of the Democracy in action propgram. For the third edition of Europe Night (EuropaNacht) the theme is 'Promises'. In a time of shifting geopolitical realities, Europe finds itself at a crossroads. What do its promises of peace, democracy and human rights mean today - and what role should Europe play in a rapidly changing world?
About Europe Night
EuropaNacht brings these questions into a shared cultural experience. Across all rooms of Paradiso, an evening and night programme unfolds where talks, performances and music come together. It is not a traditional debate, nor just a club night, but a space where reflection and collective experience meet.
The evening begins in the Main Hall with a programme of speakers, music and performances. Voices such as Joris Luyendijk, Clarice Gargard and Simon van Teutem reflect on Europe’s position in the world today, while artistic contributions offer space for imagination and new perspectives. The winner of the essay competition by De Kiesmannen, Het Parool and Democracy in Action will present a personal reflection on Europe’s promises.
As the night progresses, the programme spreads throughout the building. Visitors can explore a wide range of activities, from talks and artistic interventions to unexpected encounters and collaborations with cultural partners.

Join our VR-Nightclub
As part of EuropaNacht, Democracy in Action presents a VR nightclub: an immersive installation that invites visitors to step into a digital nightlife environment. Within this virtual space, participants explore how we meet, move and express ourselves online - and how these digital interactions shape our understanding of community, participation and democracy.
Later in the night, Paradiso transforms into a full club experience. In the Main Hall and basement, DJs and collectives take over, carrying the energy of the evening onto the dancefloor.
EuropaNacht is an invitation to come together - to question, to experience, and to move.
