Workshop: Grassroots Culture for Youth Climate Action (Izmir)

As part of the next phase of Democracy in Action, three organisations have been selected to participate in the upcoming workshop “Grassroots Culture for Youth Climate Action” in Izmir, Türkiye, taking place from 23–25 September 2026. Organised by Fondazione Santagata in collaboration with Kentimiz Izmir (TAG), the workshop will bring together grassroots organisations, researchers, and cultural practitioners to explore how culture and community-based initiatives can contribute to youth climate action and democratic participation.

Following a careful review of all submissions, 3 organisations have been selected to participate in the upcoming workshop “Grassroots Culture for Youth Climate Action”, taking place in Izmir, Türkiye, from 23 to 25 September 2026 in collaboration with Kentimiz İzmir Derneği:
- TAKE A PART CIO (Plymouth, United Kingdom)
- Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Culture & Education for Entrepreneurship, Culture & Education (Varna, Bulgaria)
- Organization Earth - Οργάνωση ΓΗ (Athens, Greece)

These organisations stood out for their meaningful engagement with youth communities and their innovative approaches to addressing environmental challenges through grassroots cultural action. We look forward to welcoming them to the workshop activities and roundtables in Izmir.The workshop will explore the role of grassroots culture in tackling the climate crisis, recognising climate change not only as an environmental issue, but also as a cultural challenge that calls for shifts in values, behaviours, and collective imaginaries. The outcomes of the workshop are intended to contribute to discussions at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, in November 2026.
